6G-life Transfer Hub: next funding phase started

With the launch of its second funding phase, the 6G-life transfer hub is strengthening Germany’s role in developing future communication technologies. Led jointly by the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Dresden University of Technology (TUD), the project will receive €25 million in funding over four years from the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space as part of the National 6G Research Roadmap 2025–2030.

Since its launch in 2021, 6G-life² has established a solid foundation linking fundamental research with application-oriented technology development. In its second phase, 6G-life² places an even stronger emphasis on transferring research results into practical applications and market-ready solutions. The goal is to develop concrete technologies for future communication networks that prioritize human needs, supporting collaborative robotics, teleoperation, and immersive virtual environments.

Another central pillar of 6G-life² is providing targeted support to start-ups to strengthen technological sovereignty. Through initiatives like the Dresden-based incubator launchhub42, the project accelerates the transfer of innovations from research to industry.

6G-life² is a project that runs until December 2029. It combines world-class research, practical innovation, and startup support to help shape secure, resilient, and human-centered 6G technologies made in Germany.
