6G-life General Assembly Ignites Phase 2 in Silicon Saxony

A day of synergy, strategy, and cutting-edge technology: The entire 6G-life community, including Principal Investigators (PIs) and researchers from TU Dresden and TU Munich, gathered in Dresden for the 6G-life General Assembly. The meeting marked a vital milestone, building a bridge between past academic achievements and ambitious plans for the upcoming research phase.

As a dedicated German 6G Research Hub, the assembly was about much more than a routine check-in. With the first phase of groundwork successfully established, the focus of the community has firmly shifted toward the future: turning world-class theoretical research into marketable, sovereign innovations for Germany and Europe.

Deep-Dive Collaboration for the Experimental 6G System

A key highlight of the assembly was the intensive, cross-disciplinary exchange. Moving from the main stage into smaller, targeted breakout groups, researchers joined forces to sharpen the technical focus for Phase 2.

In eight dedicated thematic subgroups, the teams laid out the roadmap for the experimental 6G system. The interactive sessions covered critical pillars of future connectivity, including:

  • Human-Robot & Swarm Interaction: Advancing medical robotics, autonomous drone swarms, and industrial teleoperation.

  • Digital Twins & Network Architecture: Shaping dynamic digital twins, Open-RAN solutions, and AI-driven in-network computing.

  • Hardware & Sensing: Developing energy-efficient AI platforms, advanced AI-RAN infrastructure, and Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC).

Bridging the Gap: Industry Alignment and Startup Spirit

For a successful technology transfer, strong roots in the commercial ecosystem are essential. To ensure that 6G-life research stays perfectly aligned with real-world requirements, the event celebrated the official commencement of the 6G-life Industry Advisory Board. This board will play a crucial role in synchronizing academic roadmaps with actual industrial needs.

Simultaneously, the entrepreneurial spirit of the hub was on full display. The project’s dedicated startup incubator, launchhub42 | The ComTech Incubator, showcased the impressive achievements of its local ecosystem. The presentations proved that 6G-life is already highly fertile ground for tech entrepreneurs looking to commercialize next-generation communication technologies.

Shaping a Human-Centric 6G Future

The General Assembly successfully concluded with a strong sense of shared momentum, just before the community joined the opening of the subsequent IEEE 6G Summit Dresden.

A huge thank you goes to all coordinators, PIs, and researchers who made this assembly a resounding success.
