Kai Müller obtained a Diploma (2009) and PhD (2013) in Physics from TUM. After positions as postdoctoral researcher at Stanford University, funded by a Feodor-Lynen fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt foundation (2013-2015), and as junior research group leader at the Walter Schottky Institut of TUM (2016-2018), he was appointed as Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at TUM in 2019 and obtained early tenure as Associate Professor in 2022. His research focusses on the quantum engineering of building blocks for photonic quantum technologies, their integration into quantum photonic integrated circuits and the realization of demonstrator experiments in the areas of quantum communication and photonic quantum computing, which enable systems engineering.
